Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak, thin, and fragile, making them more likely to break even after a small fall, sudden movement, or sometimes even coughing. Normally, bones are living tissue that constantly rebuilds themselves. In osteoporosis, the body loses bone faster than it can rebuild it. Over time, the inside of the bone develops larger spaces and becomes less dense—almost like a sponge becoming more hollow.
